Locking

In order to use your CHY to vote in governance processes, you will first have to lock an amount of your tokens. Doing so gives you a "lock weight", which will be used to calculate your voting weight.

Lock weights are determined by the length of time you decide to lock your tokens up. E.g. if you lock your CHY for 10 epochs, you cannot withdraw them for the next 10 epochs, but you will receive lock weight in return.

  • You can have more than one balance of tokens locked, and for different lengths of time. E.g. You can simultaneously have 5000 CHY locked for 10 epochs and 3500 CHY locked for 26 epochs.

  • It is possible for you to extend the duration of a lock on just a portion of an already locked balance.

  • You can extend the length of time you wish to lock a balance of CHY.

  • You can lock your tokens for a maximum of 52 epochs.

  • You can pay a penalty to exit a locked balance early.

  • Locking allows you to earn CHY at a boosted rate.

  • Lock weights decrease when the next epoch begins, every other Wednesday, at 0:00:00 UTC +0.
